The Christian Case for Bachelorette Parties
Bachelorette parties – “girls’ night” celebrations with a bride-to-be before her wedding – get a bad rap. Even though bachelorette parties are a relatively recent phenomenon, and Emily Post is mum on the subject, so many women (and men) assume that a bachelorette party has to involve unchaste behavior and poor decisions, and thus are generally inappropriate.
The great (and terrible) news is that there are no rules when it comes to throwing bachelorette parties. In fact, taking the time and space to celebrate this unique milestone in a woman’s life has strong scriptural and biblical roots. What can we learn from the Bible about bachelorette parties? Church history often informs 21st-century life in unexpected ways. You can discover a completely new perspective on why bachelorette parties not only matter, but can align beautifully with Christian values, Biblical lessons, and the vocation of marriage.
How To Plan a Kickass Bachelorette Party
The world is awash with information, advice, etiquette, and planning guides for weddings. But what about pre-wedding rituals like bachelorette parties? They are a relatively new phenomenon anyway, and it’s so easy for a maid of honor, bridesmaid, or bride to become completely overwhelmed even before the first Google search. Does the bride even want one? What will the bridesmaids and other guests like? Do we have to do the Magic Mike thing? What about matching t-shirts? Am I a bad person for extending yet another wedding-related invitation to guests who are, presumably, already making the effort to come to the wedding? You’ll walk away with ways to answer all these questions, and more, including a clear way to understand exactly where you are in the planning process, and the exact next step you need to put together a kickass bachelorette party.
